Slow Food Nation Strives to be a Zero Waste Event

In conjunction with the City of San Francisco’s Department of the Environment, Slow Food Nation is promoting a Zero Waste Program to recycle and compost event items like building materials, plates and flatware, food waste and packaging. Slow Food Nation will be audited by the Department of the Environment and is aiming for a high, successful ratio of compost to landfill waste. Slow Food Nation would like to thank the San Francisco Conservation Corps for helping with on-site recycling and composting collection and helping the event reach its zero waste goals.

Composting at Slow Food Nation will be both interactive and informative and will serve the dual purpose of raising waste-awareness, including highlighting the City of San Francisco’s current composting program and illustrating compost-science.

Slow Food Nation is working with alternative energy providers to use clean energy at the event and with carbon-offset agencies to reduce our carbon footprint.
